Larry Korman

Co-CEO, Korman Communities

After graduating from Duke University in 1986, Larry joined the family business full-time and used his studies to maximize the efficiency of the operations by branding the firm’s existing 23 garden-style apartment communities into KormanSuites, taking his father’s concept of a furnished apartment to the next level. KormanSuites, the nation’s first branded portfolio of furnished apartment properties, became the leader for temporary corporate housing) and began to gain recognition from the nation’s top corporations.

By 2004, recognizing a need for luxury flexible-stay residences with hotel services, he created a new collection, AKA, in order to acquire, transform and reposition exclusive high-rise, extended-stay properties in key urban markets.

The company-wide ethos of dedication to the resident experience flows directly from the Korman tradition of pride and commitment to long-term excellence. Larry oversees the partnership relations, branding, management, marketing, asset, development and design of the AKA collection.

Raised in renowned architect Louis Kahn’s last residential commission in Fort Washington, PA, Larry grew to understand the importance and impact of great design and learned the value of living in a global community. Larry now resides in the Kahn home with his wife Korin, founder of body+beauty labs. They have three children. Larry is a Trustee of the Board of Directors of Drexel University, and a member of the Board of Overseers at the University of Pennsylvania School of Design. Larry is the Chair of the Board of Philadelphia’s Film Society and Film Festival. He is also on the Corporate Council of the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
